Untangling from the weeds

Newt Natural Capital had already made a great start with their brand. And with lots of clients and projects already in motion, it didn’t make sense to rebuild their visual identity from scratch and risk losing any existing equity. Instead, we needed to find a way to bring focus and clarity to their brand without losing their credibility. 

Newt Natural Capital has a clear sense of purpose and experience in the field. But they needed to sharpen their messaging and evolve their aesthetic to better reflect who they are, where they’re headed and the value they can bring to their clients.

A brand as adaptable as a newt

The newt is an adaptable and resilient creature, capable of surviving in varied climates. It’s a fitting representation for the business. Their whole brand identity needs to communicate the positive duality between professionalism and rugged experience, and the multidisciplinary expertise of Newt Natural Capital. 

While many of their clients understand the idea of natural capital, they’re less confident when it comes to assessing the risks and opportunities. The challenge for Newt Natural Capital is to have clarity in a complex and often misunderstood sector. They need to show they can ‘get their hands dirty’ with on-the-ground experience while delivering a slick and professional edge to appeal to global corporate clients. 

Through the competitor audit we unearthed a clear market gap, a sweet spot between big consultancies that lack boots-on-the-ground experience and smaller outfits that struggle to scale with their clients. Newt Natural Capital, on the other hand, is credible, responsive and professional; providing exactly what their clients need when making decisions that impact both profit and planet. 

We have built a suite of bold headlines that are intriguing and distinct using bilateral, punchy and down-to-earth statements separated by a full stop. These messages combine to communicate confidence, authority and efficiency, as well as expressing a robust and integrative approach.  

To support the messaging, stunning aerial photography of diverse landscapes grounds them in their roots and speaks to their understanding of the bigger picture in the natural world, while simple and precise design elements and a logical hierarchy cut through the noise in a complex sector. This helps to boldly shout about real and significant benefits that help their clients feel assured and comfortable.

We are thrilled to have defined a brand architecture and a unique and distinctive brand strategy and identity for Newt Natural Capital. We also created the assets they needed to deliver their brand and ensure consistency across all marketing activities.
